Fruitland Water Company is a mutual, non-profit irrigation company owned by its shareholders. We hold no water for sale — we exist to move each shareholder's decreed water, fairly and on schedule, from the headgate to the field.

A company owned by the people it serves
Fruitland Water Company was organized so that landowners along the Fruitland Ditch could hold and manage their water right together, rather than individually. Shares in the company represent a proportional right to the water carried under our decree — the company itself owns no land and sells no water. Its only job is to divert, carry, and deliver.
Day to day, that means maintaining the ditch and its structures, setting a fair delivery schedule during the season, and keeping the company's books, assessments, and water records in order for every shareholder.
Governed by shareholders
An elected board of directors and officers, drawn from the shareholders themselves, sets policy and oversees the ditch superintendent.
Run by a ditch rider
A superintendent, or "ditch rider," manages headgates, rotates deliveries, and keeps the channel clear through the season.
Funded by assessments
Annual per-share assessments cover ditch maintenance, insurance, and administration — not a per-gallon charge.

How water reaches your headgate
Water is diverted under our decree, carried down the Hydraulic Ditch, and turned into the Fruitland Ditch, where it is rotated among shareholder turnouts along its length.
